A party in Kayunga district, Uganda took a violent turn when a boy fatally stabbed another boy over a girl.
Hellen Butoto, the Ssezibwa Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed the tragic incident, stating: “It occurred in Kangulumira sub-county ahead of the official launch of SACCOS, which had been slated for Saturday.”
Butoto explained that the event organizers had organized a disco ahead of the launch, drawing a predominantly youthful crowd.
“The disco turned violent when a young man named Mangali clashed with 18-year-old Sharif Bbosa over a girl identified as Resty Nabukwasi. Mangali stabbed Bbosa in the head twice, causing the knife to get stuck,” she recounted.
Butoto added that the police quickly responded, and Bbosa was rushed to Jinja regional referral hospital where he tragically succumbed upon arrival.
Henry Lubanga Munyara, one of the disco organizers, noted that the majority of attendees were young people, many of whom were intoxicated, with some having used opium.
Butoto urged the youths to take responsibility for their actions, emphasizing, “It is very important for you to lead meaningful and peaceful lives.”
