Tinubu Highlights Nigeria’s High-Grade Lithium Deposits to European Leaders

During a meeting with Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands at The Catshuis in The Hague, President Bola Tinubu promoted Nigeria’s lithium deposits, emphasizing the country’s potential to drive Europe’s clean energy future.

Tinubu pointed out that Nigeria offers vast opportunities across various sectors and mentioned ongoing reforms to improve the investment environment.

He engaged the audience by expressing Nigeria’s interest in establishing strong and mutually beneficial partnerships, especially in areas like solid minerals.

In his address, Tinubu stated, “Considering the global landscape, there is significant potential for collaboration between us, particularly in the solid minerals sector, where Nigeria boasts high-grade lithium deposits capable of fueling the world’s clean energy revolution. Nigeria presents an excellent opportunity for value addition beyond its oil reserves, showcasing greater innovation in various fields.”

He also highlighted Nigeria’s youthful demographic, with 70% of the population under 30 years old, underscoring the country’s immense workforce and consumer market appeal to Dutch and international investors.

Tinubu commented on the importance of providing opportunities for the youth to thrive in Nigeria, aiming to reduce brain-drain and foster economic growth within the country, consequently benefitting Europe by curbing irregular migration through strategic partnerships.

President Tinubu reaffirmed his faith in the Nigerian populace, emphasizing the need to empower them with essential tools for long-term success, stating that his decisions are driven by a firm belief in the potential of the Nigerian people.
