The Federal Government Establishes Committee to Supervise the Health and Well-being of Civil Servants

A 12-member committee has been set up by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, OHCSF, to enhance the health and overall well-being of its workforce.

During the inauguration, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, represented by Dr. Comfort Adeosun, Director Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office, SWO, in the OHCSF, conducted the ceremony.

This initiative aligns with pillar 6 of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, FCSSIP-25, aimed at enhancing the value proposition of staff by continually improving the work environment, well-being, and basic support services for Civil Servants through various initiatives.

The Committee’s establishment signifies a significant step towards achieving the objectives of the National Policy on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), which aims to enhance working conditions and workspaces for employees.

The members are urged to prioritize safety at all times, with a forthcoming safety audit planned. Dr. Esan emphasized that they would be the safety advocates in the OHCSF.

Comprising representatives from the Occupational Health Safety and Environment (OHSE) Department and other key departments, the Committee will provide recommendations to management on hazard control measures and strategies to enhance staff safety, health, and welfare.

Committee members were further encouraged to fulfill their roles diligently and with dedication, as the safety and well-being of all staff are crucial for enhanced productivity and service delivery quality.
