Governor Adeleke Discusses Alleged Deportation of Osun Indigenes with Governor Sanwo-Olu

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has engaged in talks with Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, regarding a reported deportation of Osun indigenes from Lagos to Ilesa.

An online platform recently published a story detailing the transportation of hundreds of youths in luxury buses from Lagos to a location in Ilesa.

According to the report, these youths were reportedly gathered from Ajah, TBS, and Island areas of Lagos, initially held in an unfinished building at the Makoko police station, and then moved to a forest in Ilesha town, Osun State.

In a statement made through his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday, Adeleke confirmed the report following an investigation carried out by the state government.

The Governor stated that the state team verified eyewitness accounts of youths being dropped off in luxury buses by individuals suspected to be from Lagos State.

“The state’s findings indicated that the youths were systematically left at various locations including Ilesa-Akure Express junction, Breweries; Ilesa – Ibodi – Iginla to Ife Express junction; Osun Ankara Express junction; Imelu Express junction; and Iperindo Express junction,” Adeleke added.

During his conversation with Governor Sanwo-Olu, Adeleke expressed his surprise at the situation and urged him to investigate and address the matter promptly if the allegations are true.

“I had a discussion with Governor Sanwo-Olu about this issue. He was equally taken aback and denied giving any authorization for such actions,” Adeleke stated.

He further mentioned that Sanwo-Olu pledged an immediate investigation into the incident to ascertain the truth, with updates expected from the Lagos team soon.

Adeleke also directed the security agencies in Osun to monitor Ilesa and its surroundings to locate the deported youths and their destinations.

“I will keep our citizens informed about the progress. I urge everyone to remain calm while the security agencies conduct surveillance,” he assured.
