The apprehension of a suspected kingpin in Rivers robbery

In a recent development, the Rivers State Police Command made a significant arrest of an alleged notorious armed robber and cultist within the Bodo community in the Gokana Local Government Area.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state police command, revealed this information through a statement released in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

The arrested suspect, identified as Menemene Lucky Baboona, also known as Federal, is 26 years old as stated by Iringe-Koko. He was apprehended by law enforcement officers from the Kpor Division and assisted by a local vigilante group in the area.

According to the police spokesperson, the suspect, branded as notorious, has cooperated and provided valuable information that could lead to the capture of other fleeing members associated with his criminal activities.

A report by PUNCH Metro on March 20, 2024, highlighted the arrest of another suspected cultist and armed robber allegedly involved in a spate of killings and robberies in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt and its environs.

Iringe-Koko disclosed that this suspect, named Samuel Nwokoma, aged 25, and his gang were responsible for the deaths of two individuals in the Diobu area of Mile 1 in Port Harcourt during violent incidents occurring between March 14 and 17, 2024.

The police spokesperson mentioned that Samuel Nwokoma led authorities to the gang’s hideout at Ogwu Waterside in Diobu, Port Harcourt, providing crucial information that led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition. Efforts are ongoing to capture the remaining fugitives and bring them to justice.
