In the view of Bright Omokaro, a former Super Eagles defender, the key to success for the team’s new head coach, Finidi George, lies in constructing a strong team capable of performing well on the field.
Omokaro, a member of the 1988 Africa Cup of Nations silver medal-winning Super Eagles squad, also emphasized the importance of Finidi avoiding any undue influence in player selection.
“I advise him (Finidi) to have a clear strategy and to stay focused on the task at hand, striving to achieve the best outcomes for the nation,” he conveyed to NAN.
“Given the current high expectations, particularly with the Eagles aiming to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, all eyes are on him now.
“The entire Nigerian populace anticipates his ability to forge a strong team, deliver positive outcomes, and resist any external pressures in player choices.”
Finidi will mark his official debut as the Super Eagles head coach in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana this June.
