The APC files a petition with the IG, while a chieftain seeks peace talks with the NNPP

On Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress reported that it had submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to investigate the alleged suspension of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, orchestrated by individuals claiming affiliation with the New Nigeria People’s Party-led government in Kano State.

In a statement titled ‘Purported suspension of APC National Chairman – a devious act of impostors, fake news,’ the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, revealed this development.

The Ganduje Ward APC executives in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State announced on Monday the suspension of Ganduje from the party.

Halliru Gwanzo, the Legal Adviser of the ward, stated during a press briefing in Kano that the decision was made due to bribery allegations against Ganduje.

Gwanzo referenced the bribery charges filed by the Kano State government against Ganduje, with his arraignment scheduled for Thursday.

The state party leadership, however, overturned the suspension and imposed a six-month suspension on the ward executives.

In Tuesday’s statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Morka alleged that the impostors behind Ganduje’s suspension were purportedly loyal to Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.

The APC condemned the alleged suspension as another tactic by the Kano State government to target Ganduje.

Mouka expressed, “The purported suspension was orchestrated by impersonators of ward officials aiming to cause confusion in the peaceful Ganduje Ward chapter of our party.

The party filed a petition with the Inspector General of Police to expedite an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice. The statement urged party members and the public to disregard the reports of the national chairman’s suspension.

At the same time, former National Vice Chairman (North-West) of the APC, Salihu Lukman, called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the conflict between Ganduje and the NNPP’s national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso.

In a statement titled ‘Ganduje: Indefensibility of moral and political burden,’ Lukman urged Tinubu to address the political discord beyond the bribery charges against Ganduje.

Lukman stressed the need for swift action by the President and top APC figures to reconcile Ganduje and Kwankwaso for political stability in Kano and the broader North.

He emphasized the importance of honesty and renegotiation of alliances to consolidate APC’s support base. Lukman urged leaders to engage in dialogue to resolve the political challenges they face.
