Technical issues causing delays for candidates at Lagos center

At Al-Mizyan Schools Computer Based Centre in Ikotun, Lagos State, candidates slated to take the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination are facing challenges participating in the exercise due to technical glitches.

Concerned parents and guardians, who spoke with our correspondent, revealed that the CBT center cited connection cable issues as the cause of the problem.

One parent, speaking anonymously, shared the ordeal of candidates waiting for hours at the center, only to be advised by operators to reprint their examination slips in anticipation of a rescheduled exam that never materialized.

Describing the situation, the parent stated, “My son arrived at the center at 8 am. Even those with earlier time slots faced the same issue. The excuse given was that someone disturbed the connection cable, prompting a reprint of slips. However, there were no changes in exam details.”

Another source, requesting anonymity, raised concerns about the faulty equipment at the center, questioning its suitability as a CBT center.

“The computers are malfunctioning, raising doubts about the accreditation status of the center. Candidates scheduled for the 7 am session couldn’t write their exams. The 9 am session was also delayed, with no exam conducted by 11:30 am,” the source mentioned.

Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Relations Officer, assured that efforts are underway to ensure all registered candidates can take the exam.

JAMB had scheduled the main UTME to run from April 19 to 29, 2024.
