Nigerian Government Points Out Lack of Interest in Improving Power Sector

As per the Nigerian government, there are individuals who do not prioritize the efficient functioning of the power sector due to their self-centered motives.

Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, highlighted the persistent challenges faced by the power industry despite the numerous ministers who have held office in the sector.

During a speech in Abuja, he emphasized, “With a history of over 40 past ministers in this sector, we are still grappling with obstacles. We anticipate resistance and distractions, but once the TCN projects are completed, Nigerians will witness our significant impact.”

“It is crucial that Nigerians are not deceived, which is why I prefer to refer to the new tariff as service-reflective rather than cost-reflective,” he added.

Adelabu also outlined the objective of the Ajah mobile substation, aiming to enhance transmission capacity, expand energy accessibility, and contribute to the target of increasing power generation from 4000 MW to 6000 MW.

“Strategically positioned at key locations like Okene, Amukpe, Potiskum, Apo, Ajah, and Birnin Kebbi, among others, this mobile substation underscores our commitment to enhancing transmission efficiency and dependability nationwide.

“The significance of this mobile station cannot be emphasized enough. Whether catering to major load centers, serving as an interim solution during maintenance and emergencies, its adaptability ensures prompt responses to varying power requirements, thereby fostering uninterrupted service provision,” he elaborated.
