A historic decision has been made by the European Union to impose sanctions on extremist Israeli settlers residing in the West Bank. This move comes as a response to the violence inflicted upon Palestinians by these settlers.
By finalizing the agreement through a written procedure on Friday, member states were able to decide on urgent matters without the need for physical meetings in Brussels.
Diplomats have revealed that the sanctions specifically target both individuals and organizations that have been involved in violent acts against Palestinians in the West Bank.
Those who are under sanction will no longer have the privilege to enter the EU or engage in any business activities with EU citizens. Furthermore, any assets or accounts they hold within the EU will be immediately frozen.
These measures have been implemented under the EU sanctions system, which aims to deter and penalize any violations of human rights.
