Suspension of Kaduna APC’s Ganduje

Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano state, has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite being the National Chairman of the APC, he faced suspension from members of his ward, the Ganduje Ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, on Monday.

This decision came as a response to alleged corruption charges brought against him by the state government.

The Kano High Court set a date of April 17, 2024, for Ganduje’s arraignment on charges related to bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds, including the alleged acceptance of $413,000 and N1.38bn in bribes.

Confirmed by the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Dederi, Ganduje will be arraigned alongside his wife and six others mentioned in the writ of summon: Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Hafsat Umar, Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises.

The Kano State Government, the plaintiff in the criminal suit against the eight respondents, expressed readiness to call upon 15 witnesses for testimony before Justice Usman Na’aba of State High Court number four.

Commenting on the situation, the Kano State Attorney General stated, “It is very true. We have filed the case and it’s going to hold on the 17th of April, 2024. What I cannot confirm is whether he is served or not, but he will definitely be served.”
