Significant Recovery of Arms from Insurgent Camps in Anambra after Police Raid

In Anambra, the State Police Command conducted a successful raid on camps belonging to armed insurgents who have been targeting police facilities in the area, according to a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Saturday.

The operation was carried out on Friday by a joint security force under the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye.

Following recent attacks on police stations in Awgbu and Neni, the joint security force was tasked with identifying and dismantling insurgent camps used as bases for launching assaults within the command.

Previously, two camps in Ogbunka and Achalla had been destroyed, and on the recent raid at Ogbunka in Orumba South LGA, the joint force discovered multiple insurgent camps with primed explosives and communication devices.

A total of six Improvised Explosive Devices and two walkie-talkies were seized, alongside food supplies, before all camps were demolished to prevent further attacks.

The ongoing forest operations aim to eradicate insurgents, rescue hostages, and recover firearms and stolen vehicles, as stated by Ikenga.

As Easter approaches, the Commissioner of Police extends well wishes to the people of Anambra, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining peace and security throughout the state.

He encourages citizens to collaborate with law enforcement in identifying insurgent hideouts to safeguard development and ensure community safety.

An assurance is given that informants providing crucial intelligence will be safeguarded, reinforcing the police’s commitment to protecting their sources.
