Arms Recovered in Police Raid on Insurgent Camps in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command conducted raids on camps belonging to gunmen and insurgents who target police formations in the state, as revealed in a statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

The raid was carried out on Friday by a joint security force led by the police, following orders from the state’s Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye.

In pursuit of the gunmen responsible for recent attacks on police stations in Awgbu and Neni, the joint security force was tasked with identifying and dismantling insurgent camps used for launching attacks within the command.

Previous camps in Ogbunka and Achalla had been destroyed, and on March 29, 2024, the Joint Security Force discovered and cleared camps in Ogbunka, where six Improvised Explosive Devices and two walkie-talkies were seized.

The raid also led to the recovery of food supplies, and all camps were subsequently demolished to prevent further attacks.

Ikenga mentioned that the operation is ongoing to root out insurgents, rescue victims, and recover firearms and stolen vehicles in their possession.

Commissioner Adeoye extended Easter greetings to the people of Anambra and emphasized the commitment of the police to safeguard the state and its residents.

He encouraged citizens to collaborate with the police in identifying insurgent hideouts to maintain peace and development in the state, assuring that informants’ identities will be protected.
