In a heartbreaking incident in Kano, a newborn baby tragically drowned in a well at Ruguzau in Takai Local Government Area of the state, as reported by the Public Relations Officer of Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Wednesday.
The incident took place on a Tuesday afternoon when an emergency call was received around 02:14 p.m. from Sabo Ladan, reporting the discovery of a baby’s body floating in a well.
Upon receiving the distress call, the rescue team was immediately dispatched to the scene and arrived at about 02:18 p.m. The team found a helpless newborn baby inside the well.
Despite efforts to save the infant, they were unable to revive the baby who was pronounced dead upon retrieval from the well.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the tragic incident which has left the community in shock.
