Real Estate Company Employee Arrested by Police for Staging Own Kidnapping

Edo State Police Command officers have detained Blessing Ogunu, who works for Bliss Legacy Limited, a real estate company in Benin City, on suspicion of orchestrating her own abduction.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, informed the media in Benin City that Esther Anthony and Ukpebor Joel were also apprehended for collaborating with Ogunu.

Allegedly, Ogunu simulated her own kidnapping and demanded a ransom of N4.8 million for her release.

Operatives from the anti-kidnapping and crime unit apprehended the suspects through the use of advanced intelligence techniques.

Following a complaint by Samuel Prince Omomuzo, a resident of No. 102 Ihama Road, GRA, Benin City, the Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Unit took action. Omomuzo reported that Ogunu, a Bliss Legacy Limited employee, had been abducted in Benin City, with the kidnappers demanding N4.8 million.

During questioning, Ogunu allegedly admitted to orchestrating her abduction due to her dissatisfaction with her company’s failure to provide a land allocation to a client who had paid.

Nwabuzor stated that the suspects will face charges in court soon.
