The disappointment felt by Sunshine Stars players following their narrow loss to Sporting Lagos was evident, according to team captain Sunday Abe.
In a hard-fought match, the Owena Waves were defeated 1-0, with Pascal Durugbor scoring early on to secure maximum points for Sporting Lagos.
Expressing his thoughts, Abe believed that his team deserved to at least secure a draw from the game.
During a media chat, Abe remarked, “We were truly disheartened by the game’s result. We displayed strong performance, and it was disappointing that a clear penalty was not awarded to us by the referee. However, in football, we must strive to improve going forward.”
As a consequence of the loss, Sunshine Stars slipped to 16th place in the league standings.
