President Buhari approves appointment of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad as the MD of Rural Electrification Agency

President Buhari has given approval for the appointment of Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The news was relayed by the Minister of Power, Engr. Mamman Sale through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Aaron Artimas, in Abuja. Additionally, President Buhari also appointed Chief Olaniyi Alaba Netufo as the Executive Director for the South West, and Eddi Mietuade Smith Julius as the Non-Executive Director for the South-South. Ahmad, the newly appointed CEO, is described as a renewable energy expert with two Masters Degrees in Development Studies and Project Planning. He brings a wealth of knowledge and planning experience in the power sector development.

Bank staff and boyfriend who allegedly assaulted actress Chioma Toplis, to face trial

A bank staff identified as 36-year-old Vivian Okoro and her 36-year-old boyfriend Femi Omomeji, will be arraigned before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos on January 11, 2020 for allegedly assaulting and inflicting injuries on nollywood actress, Chioma Toplis.   It was gathered that Toplis and Vivian were living at 11 Abagbon Close in Victoria Island, Lagos at the time of the incident while Omomeji, head of graphics at the Union Bank Headquarters in Lagos lived at Church street in Ipaja, Lagos.     Recounting how the incident occurred, Toplis said she was beaten, dragged on the ground which led to multiple fractures on her left leg and injuries all over her body after she questioned the defendants who she met removing the switch from her meter.  LASU has reacted to the murder of one of its final year students, Favour Daley-Oladele, for ritual by her friend. LASU called for caution from its students. Armed robbers who were trapped in First Bank Mpape community in Abuja have been arrested and one killed by the Police and Soldiers. Earlier we reported that armed robbers were trapped inside the First Bank Mpape Abuja building, a banker and other suspects have been arrested while one was killed. The spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, confirmed that normalcy has been restored in the area after four of the suspects were arrested and one of them killed. The CP, Bala Ciroma, confirmed that one of those arrested was a staff of the bank, who was acting as an insider for the four others.

Officers of the Anambra Police Command have arrested three kidnappers involved in the abduction of a staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, Engr Emeka Chiaghana. Ondo State Police Arrests Residents over Burning Of Popular Church

The Ondo State police command has begun arresting persons suspected to have participated in the burning of Sotitobire Miracle Centre, Akure, on Wednesday.  The church headed by Pastor Alfa Babatunde, was set ablaze by an angry mob after news spread that the body of a one-year-old boy declared missing since November 10 during a service had been dug up inside the church.    So far, the police has arrested no fewer than 10 persons in connection with the incident.
