Former Central Bank of Nigeria Deputy Governor Kingsley Moghalu Criticizes Nigerian Leaders’ Approach to Country’s Issues

Kingsley Moghalu, who previously served as the Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria, has expressed his disappointment in Nigerian leaders’ lack of genuine interest in addressing the challenges facing the country.

In his remarks, Moghalu criticized the prevalent focus of leaders on political gamesmanship, seeking personal benefits, and appointing incompetent individuals based on loyalty and ethnicity.

Highlighting the essential components needed to solve Nigeria’s problems, Moghalu emphasized the significance of knowledge, expertise, competence, and most importantly, political determination.

He lamented, “The unfortunate reality in Nigeria is that many leaders seem more preoccupied with perpetuating political interests, pursuing personal gains, and installing unqualified cronies. However, problems cannot resolve themselves.”

Moghalu underscored the pivotal role that a combination of knowledge, competence, expertise, and political will plays in addressing the country’s challenges, emphasizing that authentic leadership is crucial for effective problem-solving.

He advocated for a leadership approach that transcends mere politics and encompasses a broader spectrum of qualities and capabilities. #LeadershipMatters
