Oyo State Governor Approves Half-Day for LG Election

For the upcoming local government election in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has given approval for Friday, April 26, 2024, to be a half-working day for all public and civil servants within the state.

In anticipation of the local government election scheduled by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) for Saturday, April 27, 2024, this decision was made to allow employees to participate in the electoral process.

A circular issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Adeyemo, specified that government offices will close at noon on Friday except for personnel engaged in essential services who are required to remain at their duty stations.

All public and civil servants are encouraged in the statement to exercise their civic rights on the day of the election.

The directive emphasized the importance of the electoral process by stating: “Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has endorsed the declaration of Friday, April 26, 2024, as a half-working day for all public and civil servants in the state to coincide with the local government election set for Saturday, April 27, 2024.”
