Sanwo-Olu states Lagos workers have received a minimum wage of N70,000 since January

According to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, civil servants in the state have been getting a minimum wage of N70,000 since January. He mentioned that his government has also been providing an additional N35,000 wage allowance to workers since the beginning of the year.

During a recent event, the governor assured employees that a new minimum wage plan would be implemented soon.

In his words, “Since January, civil servants and all public officers in Lagos have been receiving a wage supplement of at least N35,000 on top of their previous earnings.

“This essentially means that those who were earning a minimum of N35,000 or more are now taking home over N70,000. This has been in effect since January.

“Thus, it is crucial for everyone to understand that we are transparent about these matters and that our government has worked diligently to ensure that, even during these challenging times, the citizens have not been neglected.”

Sanwo-Olu also announced plans for his administration to provide food supplies to 500,000 households in Lagos through unions and local government channels.

Regarding the ‘Ounje Eko’ Initiative, where discounted food items are being offered for sale, Sanwo-Olu mentioned, “We have established 59 temporary markets outside of the regular markets across our 57 local government and council development areas, making them available on a weekly basis.”
