In a recent statement, reality TV personality and musician Whitemoney, born Hazel Oyeze Onou, announced that he no longer aspires to clinch a Grammy award.
The Big Brother Naija Season 6 champion, known for his vocal desire to achieve a Grammy, expressed his belief that the prestige of the American honor has diminished.
During an interview with content creator Egungun, Whitemoney shared that he has redirected his ambitions towards the local Headies Awards instead.
He stated, “Given the current circumstances, the Grammy has lost its shine. Let’s focus on the Headies. I am reconsidering my pursuit of a Grammy. Right now, I am aiming for any recognition that keeps me in the spotlight. Considering the recent treatment of our top artists Davido and Burna Boy at the last Grammy ceremony, it seems like Nigeria is being exploited for publicity purposes.”
He added, “However, one should never say never. My music style is distinctive. If it leads me to the Grammy stage, that’s fine by me.”
