Government of Nigeria takes steps to minimize presence of multiple security personnel at airports

In an effort to streamline operations, the Nigerian government has announced intentions to reduce the frequency of security checks at airports across the country.

This move stems from a collaboration between the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to minimize redundant security measures at Nigerian airports.

During a recent announcement, Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of FAAN, shared insights into this initiative.

Highlighting the issue of excessive security checks, Kuku emphasized the need for a more efficient approach.

Addressing the comprehensive scope of the plan, Kuku stated, “We are working towards a streamlined process for airport security, involving various agencies such as Customs, NDLEA, Quarantine, and Agriculture. We have been actively engaged in discussions with the NSA to enhance the facilitation process.”

She further added, “Our immediate focus is to decrease the number of redundant agencies present at airports. Some of these agencies perform routine inspections, which can be streamlined to ensure smoother passenger experience.”
