Abia State Command of NSCDC captures wanted oil theft suspects

Two individuals suspected of involvement in the sabotage of petroleum pipelines, as well as theft and illegal dealings related to petroleum products, were paraded by the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).

The suspects, identified as 25-year-old Samson Koki and 18-year-old Zakaria Yakubu, had been on the command’s wanted list prior to their apprehension. They were detained at Shell Well Head 26 in Owaza, Ukwa West LGA of Abia State.

In a statement, Ndukwe Agu Egwu, the Head of the Public Relations Unit of Abia NSCDC, disclosed that the suspects were nabbed through a collaborative effort involving NSCDC, DSS, and Shell internal security operations.

“The successful arrest of these individuals, who have long been sought by Abia NSCDC, marks a significant stride in our relentless campaign against oil pipeline vandalism,” he remarked.

The NSCDC expressed gratitude to the public for providing crucial information that led to the capture of the suspects, emphasizing that the arrest was in accordance with the directives of the Commandant General, Abubakar Audi.

Fifty-five cellophane packs containing petroleum products believed to be crude oil, as well as a lengthy hose, were seized from the suspects.
