News Alert: 29 Yoruba Nation agitators facing charges in Ibadan

Facing charges in an Ibadan Chief Magistrate Court are twenty-nine individuals linked to the Yoruba Nation movement. They are being accused of participating in the disrupted attempted entry into the Oyo State Government Secretariat on Saturday, April 13.

The charges brought against them include accusations of treasonable felony, involvement in an unlawful society, illegal possession of firearms, armed presence, and behavior likely to incite a breach of peace.

Inspector Bakare Rasaq, who serves with the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ibadan, stated that these alleged offenses are in violation of Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol.II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

The case, identified by charge number Mi/520c/2024, is a legal battle between the Commissioner of Police and the group of 29 suspects.
