Naval Training Command HQ Moves from Lagos to Rivers

Relocation of the Naval Training Command headquarters from Lagos to Onne in Rivers State has been disclosed by the Nigerian Navy.

During a visit to the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, at Government House in Port Harcourt, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, made this announcement.

Vice Admiral Ogalla stated that the purpose of his visit was three-fold. Firstly, to notify the Governor that a group of former civilians trained at the Basic Training School in Onne will be graduating and joining the Nigerian Navy as ratings. Secondly, he expressed gratitude to the Rivers State government for donating schools to the Navy. These schools are the Ambassador Nne Krukrubo Model Secondary School in Eleme, Eleme Local Government Area, and the Model Secondary School in Egbelu, Oyigbo Local Government Area.

Furthermore, Vice Admiral Ogalla mentioned that following the donations and as part of the strategic plan, the Navy has refurbished the school in Eleme. He added, “Today, I am pleased to announce that the Naval Training Command headquarters, previously located in Lagos, will be moved to this school location in Eleme tomorrow.”

Under his leadership, the Nigerian Navy has seized 14 vessels involved in stolen crude oil activities and made numerous arrests, Vice Admiral Ogalla disclosed.

In response, Governor Fubara urged the Nigerian Navy to continue their firm stance against economic sabotage, particularly crude oil theft in the nation’s waterways. He commended the Navy for the positive achievements in the state attributed to the support from his administration.

Governor Fubara emphasized the collaborative effort, ensuring full support to fulfill the Navy’s mandate and sustain the positive achievements in combating oil theft in Rivers State despite the prevailing negativity.
