Nathan Tella Reflects on Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga Title Triumph: A Unique Achievement

Reflecting on his achievement of winning the Bundesliga title in his first season with Bayer Leverkusen, Nathan Tella expressed that it is truly a special moment.

Bayer Leverkusen clinched their maiden Bundesliga title in their 120-year history with an emphatic 5-0 victory against Werder Bremen last Sunday.

The Nigerian international expressed his delight in being able to contribute to the team’s success.

Speaking to ESPN, Tella said, “Feeling a mix of happiness and fatigue, but ultimately thrilled for the fans, players, staff, and everyone associated with the club.”

He continued, “I believe this could be one of, if not the most memorable day in the club’s history. I am glad we all could be a part of it. Champions truly deserve this moment.”

Having joined BayArena last summer from Southampton for a reported €23.3m, the 24-year-old has netted five goals in the Bundesliga for Leverkusen this season.

Tella emphasized that being a part of the club’s victorious journey will be a cherished memory for him in the long run.

He added, “It is indeed a remarkable experience. I have always maintained that trophies are not handed to you on a platter.”

He further elaborated, “Having the opportunity to join this club in my debut season, alongside an immensely talented group of players and exceptional coaching staff, and winning a title in the very first attempt is remarkable. It marks a significant milestone in the club’s history.”
