Major Security Concern in Nigeria Unveiled by FG

Highlighting the relationship between corruption and insecurity in Nigeria, the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasized the need for a collective effort to combat this menace.

During his visit to Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in Abuja, the minister underscored the importance of synergy between his ministry and the ICPC.

He stressed the significance of collaboration with anti-corruption agencies in tightening controls and closing administrative loopholes.

Recognizing corruption as a significant threat to security in Nigeria, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the necessity of alignment between the two entities to address common interests effectively.

Emphasizing a proactive approach over reactive measures, he discussed the imperative of building robust institutions to navigate the challenges of the 22nd-century landscape.

By fostering a strategic partnership, Tunji-Ojo believes that the synergy between these agencies can proactively curb misconduct, prevent illicit activities, and dissuade criminal behavior.

He highlighted the importance of reversing the roles where criminals are pursued by the state, rather than the other way around, to establish a more effective deterrent against unlawful activities.
