Important Update: Kano Court Upholds Ganduje’s Suspension

In a recent development, the Kano State High Court has issued an ex parte order preventing the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, from identifying himself as a party member. The court has also directed Ganduje to refrain from overseeing any activities of the National Working Committee of the APC.

The court’s decision, granted by Justice Usman Na’abba, came after an ex parte motion filed by Dr. Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of two executive members from Ganduje’s ward. The court has instructed all parties involved to maintain the current state of affairs until the substantive suit is heard and determined on April 30, 2024.

Furthermore, Justice Na’abba has halted the Kano State Working Committee APC from interfering with the decision taken by the executives of Ganduje ward. The decision to suspend Ganduje was made following allegations of corruption leveled against him by the Kano State Government.

A petition submitted by a member of the APC prompted the executives to take action, as they sought to investigate the corruption allegations to uphold the party’s integrity. This move has implications on President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption stance.

Despite initial inaction by the ward chairman and secretary, a group of nine executive members, spearheaded by the legal advisor, proceeded to suspend Ganduje based on the petition filed on April 8, 2024.
