Illbliss Reflects on the Memory of the Late Indigenous Rapper, Dagrin

Reflecting on the tragic loss of Oladapo Olaonipekun, better known as Dagrin, Nigerian rapper Illbliss paid tribute to his late colleague.

Dagrin, a rising star in indigenous rap, lost his life in a fatal car accident on April 22, 2010.

On the 14th anniversary of his passing, Illbliss expressed that Dagrin’s impact and legacy will endure indefinitely.

Marking the day with a photo of Dagrin, Illbliss shared heartfelt words on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, saying: “Rest in peace, bro! Your influence will continue to live on.

“Your contributions to Nigerian Hiphop were immense and greatly valued. You served as an inspiration to so many. Rest peacefully.”

Dagrin is widely recognized for his role in popularizing indigenous rap in Nigeria and inspiring a new generation of artists, a legacy that persists even in his absence.

His notable tracks include “Pon Pon Pon,” “Thank God” (featuring Omawumi), “Kondo,” “If I Die,” and more.

His life was cut short at the age of 25, leaving behind a significant impact on the Nigerian music scene.
