Group Urges Gov Otti to Verify Claims against Ikpeazu

A civil society organization, the Nigeria Citizens Watch for Good Governance (NCWGG), has called on Governor Alex Otti of Abia State to prioritize governing the state and focus on his duties instead of making unverifiable statements.

The group has urged Otti to substantiate his allegations against former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu by publishing detailed and accurate reports to support his claims.

In a statement issued to the media, the spokesperson for NCWGG, Maduka Samuel, emphasized the importance of verifying Otti’s recent criticisms of his predecessor, Ikpeazu.

NCWGG criticized Otti’s remarks as defamatory towards the former governor, accusing him of using false information to discredit Ikpeazu, despite being in office for a relatively short period.

The group stated, “We demand concrete evidence to back his claims. He should name the alleged contractors and provide comprehensive reports on the events he alleges took place.”

“His unfounded statements, akin to his previous misleading remarks about ‘247 Light in Aba,’ only showcase his propensity for falsehood. Governor Otti’s credibility is at stake, and the truth will ultimately prevail,” the group added.

NCWGG expressed disappointment in Otti’s leadership, suggesting that his focus should be on serving the people rather than spreading baseless allegations. The group encouraged Otti to build on the projects initiated by Ikpeazu for the benefit of Abians and to fulfill his mandate effectively within the remaining timeframe.

“Governance is a continuous endeavor, and Abians deserve a leader committed to progress and truth. Governor Otti must learn from Ikpeazu’s example and prioritize the welfare of the people over political theatrics,” the group stated.
