Guardiola’s Explanation Behind Cole Palmer’s Departure from Manchester City

In the summer, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admitted his role in Cole Palmer’s exit from the club.

The midfielder was sold by Manchester City for a fee of £42.5 million.

Since joining Chelsea, the 21-year-old has impressively netted 20 goals in the Premier League during his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

In a recent statement, Guardiola, a former coach at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, shed light on the reasons for Palmer’s departure.

Prior to Chelsea’s match against Manchester City, Guardiola shared insights on Palmer, who showcased his talent by scoring four goals against Everton in their recent encounter.

Guardiola remarked, “He expressed his desire to leave Manchester City for two seasons. I tried to persuade him to stay, but he was determined to move on. What more could we have done?”

He further added, “Palmer is a remarkable player with immense potential. I regret not providing him with the playing time he deserved, which he is now flourishing with at Chelsea.”
