FCMB SheVentures Celebrates its First Anniversary with Africa’s Richest Woman, First Lady of Ogun State, and Others

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) celebrated the first year anniversary of SheVentures, its exclusive proposition for women in business, on March 5, 2020.


The event was graced by the First Lady of Ogun State, Her Excellency Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun; Managing Director, Rose of Sharon Group and Executive Vice Chairman, Famfa Oil, Dr. (Mrs.) Folorunsho Alakija, who was also the Guest Speaker; and former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Mrs. Sarah Sosan, among other prominent personalities from various sectors.


In his address, the Group Chief Executive of FCMB Group Plc, Mr. Ladi Balogun, emphasized the importance of SheVentures in FCMB’s efforts to elevate the performance of SMEs. He highlighted the bank’s commitment to supporting women-owned businesses for the growth of the country’s economy.


The Guest Speaker, Dr. (Mrs.) Alakija, Africa’s richest woman, lauded women entrepreneurs for their resilience and commended FCMB SheVentures for its positive impact on female entrepreneurs.


Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the First Lady of Ogun State, encouraged female entrepreneurs to view FCMB SheVentures as a platform for sustainable economic empowerment, urging them to enhance their productivity, income levels, and contribute to the country’s growth.


The FCMB SheVentures proposition provides various unique opportunities for Nigerian women entrepreneurs, including access to interest-free loans of up to N5,000,000 and aims to inspire and empower them to enhance their competitiveness and profitability, ultimately contributing significantly to national development.


Since its inception in March 2019, over 2,000 female-owned or managed SMEs in Nigeria have benefited from FCMB’s SheVentures proposition, gaining access to mentorship, capacity building, networking, and interest-free loans.


The event’s key moments included the presentation of interest-free loan cheques and awards to the best mentees from the SheVentures Mentorship Programme.
