Governor’s Christmas Gifts Cause Further Division in Ebonyi CAN Crisis

The leadership discord within the Ebonyi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has worsened, leading to deep divisions within the members of the association.

This crisis has resulted in a split within the Christian body in the state, with two individuals, Rev. Scamb Nwokolo and Pastor Alloy Ogah, both claiming the position of chairman.

The situation escalated when the state government provided a Christmas package to the association in December 2023. The gift was reportedly deposited into Nwokolo’s account, causing discontent within Ogah’s faction.

Ogah and his supporters have accused Nwokolo of misappropriating funds and other donations meant for the association for personal gain.

The faction led by Ogah has alleged that Nwokolo embezzled N100 million and misused 1,000 bags of rice and two vehicles that were donated to the Christian body during the 2023 festive season.

Ogah’s faction is adamant that Nwokolo’s group must be held accountable for their actions and management of resources.

In response to these accusations, Nwokolo refuted the claims, labeling them as an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
