The Deepening Crisis in Ebonyi CAN as Government’s Christmas Offer Divides Members

In Ebonyi State, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is facing a severe leadership crisis that has taken a new turn.

The organization has been embroiled in internal strife, leading to its split into factions.

Rev. Scamb Nwokolo and Pastor Alloy Ogah are both claiming to be the rightful chairman of the association.

The situation escalated when the state government provided a Christmas gift to the association in December 2023. This offering was reportedly deposited into Nwokolo’s account, sparking discontent within Ogah’s faction.

Ogah and his supporters have accused Nwokolo of misappropriating funds and resources meant for the association for personal gain.

The Ogah faction alleges that Nwokolo embezzled N100 million and diverted 1,000 bags of rice and two vehicles that were donated to the Christian body during the 2023 holiday season.

Ogah’s group remains adamant that Nwokolo’s faction must be held accountable for their actions.

Upon being approached, Nwokolo refuted the accusations, labeling them as an attempt to tarnish his reputation.
