Arrest Warrant Revoked for Ehie and Other Defendants by Court

At the Federal High Court in Abuja, a significant decision was made on Thursday as the warrant of arrest against Edison Ehie, the Chief of Staff of the Rivers State Governor, and five others was set aside.

Previously, on January 31, an arrest warrant had been granted against Ehie and the other five individuals in question.

These defendants are facing prosecution by the police over their alleged roles in the burning of the Rivers State’s House of Assembly and a case of attempted murder.

During the recent court proceedings, Justice Emeka Nwite concurred with the defendants’ counsel on the jurisdiction matter, stating that the court erred in granting the ex-parte application initiated by the Inspector General of Police against Ehie and the other five accused individuals, as there were no pending charges before the court.

Consequently, the court decided to annul its ex-parte orders issued on January 31, 2024, which had led to the warrant for the arrest of Ehie and the other five individuals, as well as their declaration as wanted.
