Collaboration Between Ministry of Interior and ICPC to Combat Corruption

Expressing concerns about the correlation between corruption and escalating insecurity in Nigeria, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasized the urgent need to address this issue.

During a meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday, Tunji-Ojo engaged with the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, Musa Aliyu.

Seeking collaborative strategies to combat crime effectively, the minister underscored the importance of capacity building and knowledge transfer in partnership with the ICPC.

Observing that governments worldwide are taking proactive measures against criminal activities, the minister emphasized the necessity for Nigeria to stay ahead in the fight against crime.

Highlighting the significance of enhancing personnel capabilities to close administrative loopholes, Tunji-Ojo stressed the imperative need for cooperation between the ICPC and the Ministry of Interior to ensure the safety of Nigerians.

After concluding a closed-door meeting with the ICPC chairman, the minister affirmed, “The collaboration between the ICPC and the Ministry of Interior is vital for the security of Nigerians.”

In response, ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu recognized the Ministry’s pivotal role in Nigeria, expressing full support towards common goals and advocating for the integration of technology in the anti-corruption efforts.
