Bola Tinubu Names New SEC Chairman and Board Members

Approval for the appointment of seven individuals to the Board of the Securities and Exchange Commission has been granted by President Bola Tinubu. The announcement of the appointments was made by the Presidency on Friday in a statement released by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. The statement was titled ‘President Tinubu appoints board of Securities and Exchange Commission.’ The appointees include Mr Mairiga Katuka (Chairman of the Board), Mr Emomotimi Agama as Director-General, Frana Chukwuogor as Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement), and Mr Bola Ajomale as Executive Commissioner (Operations). Other appointees are Mrs. Samiya Usman as Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services), Mr. Lekan Belo, and Mr. Kasimu Kurfi as Non-Executive Commissioners.

Ngelale expressed the President’s hope that all Board members will utilize their extensive experience and expertise to further the commission’s fundamental objective of developing and overseeing a capital market that is dynamic, fair, transparent, and efficient. This is to enhance investor confidence and make substantial contributions to the country’s economic growth.
