Benue Records Tragic Incident as Zamfara PDP Secretary and 26 Others are Brutally Murdered by Bandits

The late Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Mr. Musa Ille, fell victim to gunmen who attacked and killed him at his residence around 8:30 pm on Monday.

A resident of the area, Iliyasu Samaila, disclosed that the assailants, believed to be bandits, shot Ille dead shortly after he returned from the night prayer (Ishai).

Samaila revealed that Ille had been a key figure in the fight against banditry in the town, making him a target for the bandits.

The bandits, who had been after Ille for some time, finally succeeded in their deadly mission on Monday night, causing shock and grief in the community.

Speaking on the tragic loss, Samaila expressed, “The late Ille was a fearless advocate against banditry in our town, and he paid the ultimate price for his dedication.”

In another appalling incident, bandits launched fierce attacks on three communities in Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the gruesome deaths of at least 26 people.

Among the victims were six members of state security groups deployed to provide security during a burial ceremony.

These heartbreaking attacks occurred between Saturday and Monday in the Mbakunwande, Jaora communities, and along the Naka-Adoka road.

The Chairman of the Gwer West LGA, Henry Agba, confirmed the devastating toll, stating that 26 lives were lost and many others sustained injuries in the attacks.

According to Agba, the security operatives and innocent villagers were ambushed and mercilessly killed by the armed assailants in separate incidents.

The State Governor’s Special Adviser on External Affairs, Col. Alexis Ashungu (retd.), confirmed the tragic events, revealing that the death toll had risen to 26.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Benue State, Catherine Anene, also verified the attacks and mentioned that the State Commissioner of Police had conducted an on-site assessment of the affected areas.
