Babatunde Fashola emphasizes the importance of transparent government communication

In advocating for openness in government, Babatunde Fashola, former governor of Lagos State, highlights the significance of building trust with citizens.

Speaking during the graduation of 30 fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Fashola stressed the need for citizens to understand and empathize with the government in times of challenges.

The ceremony, which took place in Lagos’ Lekki area, was covered by the News Agency of Nigeria.

Addressing the audience as the guest speaker, Fashola emphasized, “The essence of trust between the government and the people lays the foundation for mutual understanding, especially during unexpected crises. Upholding transparent processes is key, as it sets a precedent for future generations.”

Meanwhile, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urged the new graduates to propose innovative solutions to national and global challenges.

Sanwo-Olu called for the utilization of cutting-edge technologies to tackle economic and social issues in the country.

He challenged the graduates by stating, “As current leaders, you must innovate and provide solutions that can assist the government in addressing present challenges and global concerns.”

Commenting on the accomplishments of the academy, Sanwo-Olu praised the 30 graduates for their outstanding performance and contributions.

Notably, the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy trains students aged between 18 and 35 in leadership skills through a one-year program and mentorship.

The Lagos Leadership Summit aims to empower young Nigerian professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful leadership roles.

By focusing on excellence in leadership, ethical governance, and youth involvement in governance, the summit provides a platform for participants to engage with industry experts and renowned leaders.
