Arrest Made in Connection with the Murder of Elderly Couple in Abuja


Following the tragic murder of Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, 79, at their residence in Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja on April 1, the suspect responsible has been apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, Police Commissioner Benneth Igweh disclosed that the arrest of the suspect, who was a former driver for the deceased couple, was made possible through swift investigative efforts by the police.

The diligent work of police detectives led to the location and arrest of the suspect in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi state, where he confessed to entering the couple’s home on the same day, committing the heinous act, and stealing their phones and ATM cards.

Furthermore, on April 11, the FCT Police Command also apprehended two suspects in Mabushi area of Abuja in connection with a separate case of alleged culpable homicide.

According to Igweh, intelligence provided to operatives from Mabushi Division led to the discovery of the discreet conveyance of the corpse of Bilkisu Mohammed. It was revealed that the victim had visited her purported boyfriend, who had left her in the care of the female suspect before her unfortunate demise due to the administration of non-prescribed medication by the male suspect.

Currently, the suspects are in police custody undergoing interrogation, and Igweh commended the efforts of the police in swiftly apprehending nine suspected armed robbers in Utako Division on April 6.
