Alleged Incident of Child Defilement in Delta State

Reportedly, a 39-year-old married man, Ernest Okporu, is accused of defiling the 11-year-old daughter (name withheld) of his landlord in Osubi community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident is said to have taken place on Saturday, March 23, leading to the suspect’s detention at the Orerokpe Police Station.

According to sources, the suspect lured the victim to his apartment under the guise of retrieving his phone charger. Upon entering, he grabbed her from behind, tied her hands, and allegedly assaulted her without her consent.

After the incident, the suspect reportedly threatened the victim not to disclose what happened or face dire consequences. The victim was coerced into cleaning her blood-stained underwear.

Medical examinations revealed evidence of the assault, including a broken hymen, penetration, and the presence of semen.

Ernest Okporu has confessed to the crime and sought forgiveness from the victim’s father, as confirmed by human rights activist Comrade Kelvin Ejumudo, who was alerted to the situation by concerned individuals.

Ejumudo stated that the suspect will face trial by the end of the week and commended the Orerokpe Divisional Police Officer, CSP Paul Oboware, for ensuring justice is served.

The Delta State Police Command, under CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, affirmed the incident, with the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, providing details during a phone interview.
