Advocating for Grassroots Development: Taraba ALGON Leader’s Stand

Highlighting the significance of a grassroots-focused development strategy, Dr. Jauro Hassan, the Taraba State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), stressed the importance of catering to the needs of local communities.

During the inauguration of Supervisory Councilors in the state capital, Jalingo, Hassan underscored the crucial role that local governments play in addressing the concerns of the people.

He expressed concern over the frequent neglect faced by local councils, resulting in a lack of substantial development at the grassroots level.

Noting the disproportionate allocation of development resources towards urban areas, Hassan remarked, “Our local government areas and communities have often been left underserved.”

He praised the current administration for its commitment to grassroots development, specifically citing Governor Agbu Kefas’s efforts to combat poverty and promote inclusive growth.

Encouraging the newly appointed officials, Hassan urged them to embrace their positions as primary representatives and strive to ensure fair development across all communities.

The inauguration saw the appointment of seven supervisory councilors and ten advisers tasked with overseeing the seven wards in the Jalingo Local Government Area.

According to NewsNow, these appointments are expected to remain effective until the next local government elections in the state.
