Actor Seun Jimoh Criticizes EFCC for Targeting Celebrities in Naira Abuse Cases

In the ongoing crackdown on Naira abusers, Nollywood actor Seun Jimoh has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of unfairly targeting celebrities.

His comments come in response to reports that the EFCC is preparing to prosecute socialite Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, for Naira abuse shortly after crossdresser Bobrisky was sentenced to prison for a similar offense.

Jimoh expressed his concern about the selective targeting, stating that it is unjust to single out individuals for a crime that a significant portion of the Nigerian population is also involved in, as evidenced by numerous videos circulating online.

Questioning the motives behind these actions, Jimoh raised the issue of why only celebrities seem to be facing repercussions for Naira abuse when there is no shortage of video evidence showing others engaging in the same illegal activity without facing consequences.

He also criticized the EFCC’s approach, labeling it as a “scapegoat strategy” that fails to consider the well-being of Nigerian citizens, including those in the public eye.

On his Instagram page, he wrote: “It appears that specific individuals are being singled out to convey a message to the wider population. However, is it not inequitable to target particular individuals for a crime that a significant percentage of Nigerians are involved in, as shown by overwhelming video evidence online? Why target only celebrities? Celebrities are also members of society! This scapegoating approach to societal reforms is concerning and shows a lack of regard for the mental health of Nigerian citizens.”
