The Prosecutor’s Office of the Mexican state of Morelos ordered the arrest of the man suspected of the murder of the Spanish woman Claudia Tacoronte. “We obtained from a specialized judge of the Femicide Prosecutor’s Office an arrest warrant for the femicide of Claudia Tacoronte Aguilera against a man who responds to the name of Francisco Javier M.,” Morelos prosecutor Fernando Blumenkron reported in statements to the media.
The magistrate, who will provide more details about the investigation of the case “in the next few hours”, assures that for the correct identification of the suspect they have been helped by the viewing crime scene security camerasin addition to information provided by citizens.
The judge assures that these are “important indications”, although he warns that if the videos or the information collected “they are not accompanied by other tests”there is a risk that it will not be enough for the trial: “We would not be successful before a judge in a trial.” Even so, he reiterates that “society” has provided “indications that must be strengthened with technical evidence so that the identity of the alleged perpetrator is certain.”
As reported, the search for the alleged perpetrator of the crimeknown as ‘El Trompas’, which already accumulates alleged crimes of robbery and assault, is not limited only to the state of Morelos, but is being carried out in other territories of the Mexican country.
The 21-year-old Spanish girl was murdered with a knife last Saturday in the Mexican municipality of Cuautla, an hour from Cuernavaca, where she had gone to attend the National Traditional Medicine Fair.
Claudia, that was her name, had arrived in the country in mid-August to do an exchange at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos. The young woman, a native of the Canary Islands, lived in the city of Cuernavaca, about 120 kilometers south of Mexico City.
Protests and outrage in Mexico
The case has generated a wave of indignation both in Spain and in Mexico, especially after learning that it is the fourth student of the university who has been murdered in just seven months.
We have witnessed how the lives of the youth of Morelos are cut short and taken away in an infamous and cowardly manner.
It is for this same reason that hundreds of UAEM students have already demonstrated to demand justice for the murder of the Spanish student. The organization of parents of the university center has also demanded that an investigation be carried out: “We demand justice for the students who today are afraid to go to school. We demand justice for us: the mothers and fathers who, with helplessness and frustration, have witnessed how the lives of the youth of Morelos are truncated and taken away in an infamous and cowardly way.”
