Chief Judge of Nasarawa State Grants Freedom to 167 Inmates
167 inmates from the five custodial centers in Nasarawa State have been set free by the Chief Judge, Justice Aisha Bashir-Aliyu.
During an official visit to the facilities located in Lafia, Wamba, Nasarawa, and Keffi local government areas, Bashir-Aliyu granted pardon to the inmates.
Justice Bashir-Aliyu emphasized that the visit was conducted in accordance with the existing laws and as per the directive to decongest custodial centers across the nation by President Bola Tinubu.
She explained that her authority empowered her to periodically review cases of awaiting trial inmates to ensure fairness in the justice system.
The chief judge reiterated that the primary aim of the exercise was to prioritize the well-being of the inmates and rectify any unjust incarcerations.
