2024 Olympics: Nigeria Prepares for Gold Medals, Says Sports Development Minister, Enoh

Expressing strong commitment, Sports Development Minister John Enoh has affirmed Nigeria’s dedication to achieving exceptional success at the upcoming 2024 Olympics in Paris, as conveyed in a statement by Diana-Mary Nsan, S.A. Media to the Minister, on Friday.

Fueled by past triumphs and a forward-looking vision, Minister Enoh highlighted Nigeria’s pursuit of gold in Paris, drawing parallels to the nation’s impressive performance at the 1996 Olympic Games.

“Building on our previous Olympic endeavors is paramount. Following Atlanta 1996, Nigeria is primed to secure, at the very minimum, a gold medal at the Olympics,” Enoh stated.

In order to realize this ambition, the Ministry has instituted a ministerial podium performance committee tasked with strategic planning and execution.

Enoh noted that this committee is meticulously evaluating sports where Nigeria holds competitive advantages, in close collaboration with the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC) and various sports federations.

“Through concerted efforts involving the Ministry, NOC, and federations, we are diligently working to enhance competitiveness and uphold Nigeria’s representation in Paris,” emphasized the Minister.

As preparations escalate, Nigeria is gearing up to demonstrate its athletic prowess on the global platform and leave a lasting impression at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

“With meticulous planning, rigorous training programs, and unwavering determination, Team Nigeria aspires to establish a remarkable legacy of sporting excellence. While some athletes and sports have secured their spots for the Games, others are still in the midst of the qualification process,” he added.

The 2024 Olympics are scheduled to unfold in Paris, the capital city of France, from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
