Maimunatu Sulaiman, a resident of Kofar-Dumi Bauchi metropolis, is currently being interrogated for reportedly killing her husband, Aliyu Muhammad, by stabbing him during an argument over a second wife, according to our sources.
The man passed away due to injuries sustained from the stabbing, while the wife suffered minor injuries.
ASP Aminu Gimbal Ahmed, the acting police public relations officer in the Bauchi State Police Command, stated that the woman is being interrogated regarding the incident.
He confirmed that she has already admitted to the crime and that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department for further action.
“Investigation is ongoing, and once it is completed, the suspect will be prosecuted in court.
“On the 5th of July 2023 at approximately 23:40hrs, the police detectives from the Township Divisional Police headquarters in Bauchi arrested Maimunatu Sulaiman, a 21-year-old female from Kofar Dumi area of Bauchi State for alleged manslaughter.
“Upon receiving the information, the detectives, led by the divisional police officer, immediately went to the crime scene and took both the victim and the suspect to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi for medical treatment.
“Upon examination, the medical doctors confirmed that the victim died from a chest wound, while the suspect had minor injuries to her stomach.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, Maimuna Suleiman, stabbed her husband Aliyu Mohammad at their marital home on the 5th of July 20223 at approximately 18:00hrs following an argument between them,” stated the police spokesman.
Unverified reports suggest that the incident occurred due to the husband’s decision to marry a second wife.
