Warning from Ondo APC female aspirant on party zoning arrangement

In preparation for the gubernatorial primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, a female aspirant, Funmi Waheed-Adekojo, has advised the party leadership regarding the unwritten zoning agreements in the state.

Expressing her concerns about the party’s stance on zoning, Waheed-Adekojo highlighted the potential negative effects of emphasizing zoning on the party’s prospects.

During discussions with journalists in Akure, the state capital, the governorship hopeful stressed the importance of prioritizing competence over unwritten zoning agreements in selecting candidates for the gubernatorial election.

Among the 16 aspirants, Waheed-Adekojo is the sole candidate from the northern senatorial district, with the remaining 15 representing the southern senatorial district.

She argued that previous adherence to zoning norms had deprived the state of capable leaders who could effectively govern and drive progress and development.

Waheed-Adekojo urged party members to carefully evaluate all aspirants and select the best candidate regardless of their geographical zone.

She pointed out that all senatorial districts in the state have already adhered to zoning practices, suggesting that there should be no need to stress zoning arrangements.

“Our politicians must abandon selfish inclinations and move away from exploiting the electorate who put them in office.

“The majority are not concerned about their children’s future nor do they prioritize creating a conducive environment for the next generation.
