Upcoming Hearing for Murder Case of UniPort Student

Scheduled for the 17th of May, 2024, a Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt will begin the hearing for the murder trial concerning Damian Okoligwe, a 400 level student studying Petrochemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt.

Okoligwe stands accused of the murder of his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a fellow student in the university studying Biochemistry at the 300 level.

The tragic incident unfolded when Otuene was discovered lifeless in her boyfriend’s residence by concerned neighbors, who caught Okoligwe in the act of attempting to dispose of her remains.

During the recent court session on Friday, Justice Chinwe Nsirim, the presiding judge, adjourned the proceedings to Friday, May 17, to allow the newly appointed private legal counsel, M.C. Mbaba, who has taken charge of prosecuting the case instead of the Rivers State Government, to acquire the necessary case documentation from the State Ministry of Justice.
