Historic Appointment of First Female Registrar at UNIOSUN in 18 Years

The announcement of Mrs. Atinuke Oguntunde as the third substantive Registrar by the Governing Council of Osun State University marks a significant moment in the institution’s history.

After a period of 18 years since its establishment, Oguntunde’s appointment as the first female Registrar breaks the trend of male Registrars at the university.

Following its establishment by the Osun  State Government under the administration of Olagunsoye Oyinlola on December 21, 2006, the university has previously had two male Registrars.

The Governing Council also appointed Mr. Muideen Lasisi as the 3rd substantive Bursar, and Dr. Olugbenga Adewuyi as the 3rd substantive University Librarian.

In a release by the University’s Public Relations’ Officer, Ademola Adesoji, it was revealed that the appointments received approval during a special meeting of the Governing Council on Friday, following a thorough selection process and recommendations from the Selection Panel.

Describing the new appointees, Adesoji stated, “Mrs. Atinuke Oguntunde, hailing from Ilesha, assumes the role of Registrar bringing a wealth of experience and expertise. Previously serving as the Deputy Registrar and College Secretary at the University’s College of Health Sciences, Mrs. Oguntunde has shown outstanding leadership and dedication in her service within the University.

“Her academic background includes a B.A.(Ed.) in English Education from the University of Ilorin and an M.A. in Literature in English from the same institution.

“Mr. Muideen Akintayo Lasisi, a native of Ido-Osun, previously held the position of Deputy Bursar at the National Open University of Nigeria. With a career spanning over two decades in finance and accounting, Mr. Lasisi’s appointment reflects UNIOSUN’s emphasis on financial prudence and accountability. He holds academic qualifications such as an HND in Accountancy from Osun State Polytechnic, a B.Sc. in Accounting from the University of Lagos, and an M.Sc. in Entrepreneurship from the National Open University of Nigeria.

“Dr. Olugbenga Wale Adewuyi, originating from Ila Orangun, the newly appointed University Librarian, brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to his new role. Dr. Adewuyi is esteemed for his scholarly contributions and dedication to advancing library sciences and administration. His educational profile includes a B.A. in Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, an M.Sc. in Library Studies from the University of Ibadan, and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from Babcock University.”

UNIOSUN’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Adebooye, commented on the appointments, highlighting their importance in the institution’s pursuit of academic excellence and institutional progress.
